In our brave new world of artificial intelligence, we seek New Pathways. Now more than ever before, we are challenged to be guided by our hearts in creating our next steps. And yesterday in my kitchen, something extraordinary happened as my entire family collaborated in creating New Pathways ~ an interactive artwork that guides you and your family in discovering your own new creative pathways.

New Pathways: First Steps

It all began with my frustration in trying to finish up something I started last January with my 13 year-old granddaughter, Naomi. Meg, my son Patrick's wife who is a gifted interior designer began playing with the paintings laying out on my worktable. Before I knew it, we'd moved them to the kitchen, where Patrick and Jim created a grid of nails on the wall.

One by one, Patrick hung the paintings as Meg had laid them out. Stunned, I watched as the entire house transformed! With sunlight streaming in, two granddaughters in the studio painting, translucent glazes and charcoal palette knife impasto textures of the art resonated with us all ~ I feel like a new woman!

After they headed home, I returned to the studio energized to complete two more groupings Meg had laid out. This morning I sat down to write and discovered New Pathways, a notion that I'd played with in my garden two weeks ago. Planting mondo grass and crocus between stepping stones, I established the way to walk through my flourishing meadow garden to enter 'maid in the shade,' with lovely crocus blooms and evergreen footing.

First Steps, 20 individual oil painting 'tiles', are arranged in your space 31" high by 24" wide. My template provides the starting point. As you move through coming days, months, and into the new year ~ I invite you to rearrange the colors and textures of your heart, as you create your own unique balance and harmony in our brave new world.

To be honest, I was really walled in on this one! This is exacty what happened to me. I was stuck thinking these paintings represented my old way of being ~ until Meg suggested a new way of seeing them.

We had a wonderful conversation as I shared my art with her. She rearranged everything and we collaborated in creating this grid of twenty individual oil painting 'tiles,' that can be rearranged when the heart sparks movement. No rush!
