Dancing Dahlia PaintingDancing Dahlias

I am starting with Dancing Dahlias for the main wall in my living room. We remodeled two years ago, painting everything white to transform a very dark north facing living area.

The first part of our remodel was the kitchen, which was also super dark. I had removed the dark red plaid wallpaper when we first bought the house 25 years ago. Restructuring the cabinets with a more open contemporary space, we also changed out small windows for sliding doors opening onto the deck.

This let in the light and established an open bright sunlit 'color palette' of white, Sea Salt, and a neutral wood tone lvt flooring throughout. I began by envisioning what the space would look and feel like with a sketch.

I imagined the space could open up with an art wall, instead of all the clutter. I looked at it from my favorite chair in what was then den (soon to be dining area.) Without the cabinets, the art wall would be 8' x 8' to accomodate a five by five foot oil painting. With a painting from my inventory I felt drawn to one of the floral pieces ~ to mirror my love of gardens and bring in colorful happy vibes that would draw energy to my kitchen throughout the entire space.

Now I am imagining the paintings, and fabrics, furnishings, and wall coverings for the rest of the space. Subscribe
