Sub-Dominant Walls are sometimes smaller than focal point walls. When they are not, it is important to treat them differently than the dominant wall. A smaller painting or pair of paintings can help people in the room feel at ease. Rather than being overwhelmed, people can feel embraced by color, harmony, and light.
If the wall has a piece of furniture such as a chest or seating group, the painting should be in scale to it. A 24 x 30 painting is a good place to start, like the one shown at right. Scale up or down to accommodate your particular furnishings.
Walls between windows are also useful for bringing the focus back into the room with artwork.
