BUTTERFLY RELEASE

As we reconnect earth and spirit, humans are healing themselves from trauma while healing our planet. 

Butterfly Release is developed over thirty years of recovering from trauma. Fusing my chakra-balanced Vitality Color Palette with a kind of automatic writing, I carve into impasto oil paint with willow charcoal and palette knives on earthy foundations of fiber and grit. You can see the final evolution of this transformation here.

Metamorphosis is not necessarily sequential, as I work many paintings simultaneously. Often a work returns to the easel for final transformations after it has rested for a time, while others have been completed. You can also see how oils, pastels, and fiber collage are influencing each other. Rather than trying to follow the numbering in a literal way, look instead for subtle changes in imagery, colors, and symbols.
