SUNRISE SUNSET series

1983 - 2026

Moving to the coastal village of Cobbs Creek in 2000, I felt inspired to begin painting again, after four fallow years following my assault. Planting my easel in the dunes of Bethel Beach Sanctuary, I matched my colors to earth and sky, bringing me into sync with the rainbow of light.

For ten years I painted earth sky and water from my vantage point, on the narrow strip of sand between inland creeks and the Chesapeake Bay. Thirty years hence, I paint the landscape within. Sunrise Sunset brings us into harmony with the daily rhythmn of the light.

Land of Plenty series

1983 - 2026

From my earliest days as an artist, I felt driven to paint undulating hills and valleys. Working in pastel, I painted in the Appalchian Mountains, pieces titled 'Mist in My Heart' and 'Resing Place.' These works always depicted tiny cottages on faraway hillsides, glinting in the light. 

Searching for reality after a traumatic assault, I discovered the landscape 'out there' mirrors the landscape within. This shifted everything. My visionary dreams came to life, as a tiny cottage came into the foreground, alongside a pond with three sentinel trees. I discovered this represented a past life which had not quite been laid to rest. The peace I felt driven to search for in each work of art was for her.

Today the series has morphed again. Now painting the present, I let symbolism emerge from dreams, daily life, and myth.

flourish series

2013 - 2026

Though my early 'floral' works were inspired by the landscape around my home, I painted winter. As an artist, most of my creativity lay dormant as well. 

As I began journaling, interpreting dreams, gardening, I began to grasp what it really means to be an artist. As I accepted the responsibility of creating in partnership with the creatrix, my garden began to flourish. 

Painting taught me that my soul, rather than a tiny light within, glows radiance and emanates peace for miles around me. My body resides within the soul. Connected to all beings, we flower, bloom, and prosper as one.
