1985 SEEKING SANCTUARY  Painting storm clouds over the Chesapeake, I had no idea I was painting the storm that was brewing in my heart. The year following, my mother was diagnosed with brain cancer. This storm let loose a cacophany of emotion. After she passed, I continued releasing emotional colors, dark clouds, mud flats on dark canvases. Year by year, my heart began to rise.

2003 SANCTUARY We moved to the country and down the road from my studio, I planted my feet in the sand and let my heart soar. Mixing colors of earth and sky, like a puppy aligning her heartbeat with her mother's, I came into harmony with Nature. Dark clouds moved off my canvases, my palette lightened, and my heart grew brighter.

2013 EMBRACE THE MOUNTAIN  A residency at Musee de La Grande Vigne in France opened the opportunity to leave my muted gray colors of the Chesapeake at home. Flying with only six tubes of paint; two blues, two reds, and two yellows ~ I landed in Provence to realign my palette with pure wavelengths of the Light ~ and discovered the connection between the artists' palette and chakra energy centers in the body.

2023 TAKE THE WILD ROSE PATH  A decade of painting with chakra colors brought forth the peaceful and sublime ~ until I lost my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Devastated, this unspeakable loss stopped me in my tracks. That same week, sitting on the mermaid bench in my garden, I looked up to see my favorite coral climbing rose turned black. I knew at once she reflected my grief, family cut off at the roots.

Desperate to resolve my heartbreak, I began exploring the meaning of roses with my paintbrush. The series evolved as I found myself plotting love and blessings with painted silk roses on textile artworks.

2025 FLOURISHING IN THE MEADOW OF LIFE  The plotted roses sprouted, and like butterflies emerging from their cocoons, the meadow of life began flourishing its way into my art. And now my girlhood dream of an exclusive textile fine art collection is here in Flourish!
