How is it I would know that I am in a cocoon? How is it I would know I am transforming in every moment? Would I isolate myself from the world, attach myself to a rigid safe position, and wrap myself in a thick wall of protection? How is it I might recognize the creative life force within me? Might I instead perceive myself as the very cocoon which wraps my morphing green essence? Might I try to speak and be frustrated that no one hears me? Might I spin my tale to get attention? Might I grow angry, resentful and try to fight my way out of my stuck position in the world? Might I dissolve into despair of darkness within my now very thick chrysalis, as my call for recognition goes unnoticed? And would I grow silent in my resignation and accept my simple existence in the world?
Then how is it I would know my chrysalis is opening? Would I feel an uplift of fresh air and pull the cocoon up over my head? Would I be blinded by the bright light streaming in, and bury my face back under the pillow?
Yet, I would awaken anyway! I would hear the new song singing in my heart. I would be startled by the feeling of my light body and be dancing! As the last of my cocoon falls away, I’d stretch my expansive wings. How could I imagine anything but soaring?
