Painting the pastel visions she's held for thirty years, Dorothy's Mountain Dream series is transformed to Waking Dreams. Crystalline colors, sparkly wisps of metallic pigments, and energetic brush calligraphy as personal as her signature have replaced muted mountains with distant isolated cottages.
Following a series of thumbnail sketches that showed a woman peeking her head over a mountain, Dorothy recognized herself as the landscape. Repainting canvases from France and Tuscany several times, the colors within began to spill out. Brush strokes took on a playful appearance. And Dorothy's brush dances like a twig of willow charcoal.
"Suppression of the Creator within takes too much energy. I can't hold her in any longer. It's not about what I want, my wish is simply for peace."
